2006 All Stars Project

ALL-STARS PROJECT, INC. 12TH ANNUAL BOWLATHON

 2006 All Stars Project

On Sunday, May 21, 2006, the All Stars Project, Inc. held it’s 12th annual Bowlathon at Leisure Time Bowl in the Port Authority building on 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. Members of the Metro NYC Chapter of ARMA, family and friends participated in this fun-filled event to raise money to be used towards the continued development of educational and creative programs for inner city kids.

For this year’s event, each volunteer set up a web page on Active.com and donations poured in from all over the city. UPS and the Metro NYC Chapter were two of the top corporate sponsors for this year’s event. One anonymous benefactor offered to match all donations submitted during the final week leading up to the event. Each participant was greeted at the door but an All Stars volunteer and upon registering, received a T-Shirt and a hearty breakfast. Each participant was allowed 15 minutes to warm up.

The ARMA Recordbreakers got off to a slow start, but warmed up mid-way through the first round. In attendance, were: Marcel Rodriguez, Frank Santiago and his son Frankie, Jon Gard and his fiancée, Kelly Dye, her friend Tamara Schroeder and a few All-Stars volunteers. The team dropped out of the trophy race mid-way through the second game, as the pins were just not falling.

Marcel Rodriguez and Diane Buscemi of the All Stars Project, Inc. were the co-chairs for this year’s event and emceed the awards ceremony. Awards were handed out for best scores (individual and team), best style (male and female) and for most money raised (individual and corporate). They both graciously thanked all of the volunteers and participants and were pleased to announce that this year’s event raised over $40,000.00.  A heartfelt “thank you” goes out to the Chapter and all of its members, family members and friends who donated and/or participated in this year’s event.
